Are the plastic lids on glass containers still a problem?

Soda-lime glass, which most affordable sets use, is usually tempered for strength but is a little more sensitive to rapid temperature swings. Neither should go from cold straight into a hot oven. Can I put a glass container straight from the fridge into the oven?
